Personal Trainer Amanda Schram Education: James Madison University, MS Kinesiology/Clinical Exercise Physiology James Madison University, BS Kinesiology/Exercise Science
About me: I have always been active and maintained a healthy lifestyle. I did not understand until later, through education and experience, the true correlation between good physical health and positive self-esteem. Growing up as a ballet dancer, I had severe body image issues. I realized that in order to overcome this, I needed to have a healthy mind and body. I truly feel that if you want to change, you can. Each individual has unique needs and goals. Some people may desire to lose weight, build muscle, prevent injury, and/or simply need a change of routine. Whatever your objective, I am here to help you through your journey. I believe in building a solid foundation for each of my clients, from which they can go wherever their goals take them. Due to my love of exercise and living a healthy lifestyle, I went to James Madison University and earned a BS in Exercise Science. While earning this degree, I began working at the university recreation center as a fitness instructor. I then became certified as a personal trainer and began training. I was awarded ‘employee of the year’ and offered a graduate assistant position of fitness and nutrition. I remained at JMU to graduate with my Master’s degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology. Since then, I’ve continued personal training and for the past year I have been working in a physical therapy clinic as a rehab tech. These combined experiences have offered me a unique insight in appreciating that each client has distinct challenges and goals. I design each program based on individual client needs and desires, and incorporate any limitations (i.e. physical limitations, time constraints, etc). My ultimate goal is to improve client physical health, which I believe positively correlates to improved overall health.
