It seems like these days new diets are popping up left and right. You have
the ketogenic diet, the Atkins diet, the vertical diet, the carnivore diet, I
could go on and on and on. However, what is the best diet? What should one do?
Let's take a look.
At the end of the day, the best diet is a diet that you will follow. Anybody can
follow a diet for one week, one month, or even a year, but how long will you be
able to maintain that. Without a doubt, you have heard of numerous people who
gained and lost weight over and over and over again after doing these so-called
diets. Well, in my opinion, there is no such thing as a diet rather sensible
eating. So what do I mean?
Well rather than restricting your carbohydrates, your calories, or anything else
for that matter, sensible eating basically means that you are always cognizant
of what your caloric intake is an addition to your macros. Let's face it, I
don't care what you do if you are taking in more calories than you burn you're
going to gain weight. Not only that, but diets that restrict vitamins and
minerals that you would be ingesting from fruits vegetables is not a diet I
think you should follow.
So at the end of the day what's best is to eat a sensible diet that includes a
cross-section of foods, therefore you're getting proper protein requirements,
vitamin requirements, mineral requirements, etc. Additionally, without
deprivation, you can also enjoy the food you like.
So in short what is the best diet? In my opinion, it's just a sensible diet
where you're taking in a cross-section of foods that guarantee that you are
hitting your macros, and vitamin and mineral requirements, keeping your caloric
intake in mind.
